SEED & PLANT
Tis the season to begin thinking sprouts…
WATERVILLE SEED LIBRARY
Friday, March 20th
The Waterville Seed Library provides community members with resources to grow healthy, sustainable food at no cost. The seed library helps to reclaim seeds as a public resource and fosters a culture where local growing knowledge is easily shared. In concert with the Waterville Public Library’s purpose and mission, we celebrate human diversity in our community and strive to be inclusive and accessible to all.
March 29th 12-4PM
Gardeners and orchardists are invited to bring their seeds, scionwood and cuttings to share. If you don’t have any, come anyway! There’s plenty of seeds and scion.
We also regularly have over 150+ types of scionwood to share, including those sourced from MOFGA’s orchards. We will also have limited quantities of rootstock for sale. Custom grafting is available by donation to the Maine Heritage Orchard.

LOOK UP! SKY EVENTS THIS WEEK
Here’s some pretty neat events to look up at.
March 20th - is the Spring Equinox! Our day and night are almost equal length and it’s the official start of astronomical spring (I mean that’s uplifting, right?).
Also on March 20th, look to the west, right after sunset, to see a thin crescent moon sitting near bright Venus. Crescent Moon + Venus (VERY cool visual).
March 18-20 is the New Moon where the moon is basically invisible. This could mean some of the best stargazing
Planet Gazers - Jupiter is bright and visible most of the night and Venus is very bright right after sunset. March is a strong month for planet visibility.
COMING SOON.. Lyrid Meteor Shower in mid April. This will be one of the first meteor showers of spring. I’ll keep you posted.
