This is a place that is so warm & welcoming. I shop here for fresh fruits and veggies, local meats, jams, syrups, eggs, milk, and more. They also have a smoothie bar & freshly baked goods. This is one of the newer trail options in the 6,800-acre Kennebec Highlands, with about 1.2 miles to the summit. The payoff is fantastic: open blueberry barrens, Kidder Pond and sweeping mountain views. On a clear day, the summit is one of the unusual places where you can potentially see both Mount Washington and Katahdin, along with Sugarloaf, Saddleback and other western Maine peaks.

Cowabunga, dude! ( pun definitely intended). Looks like a really unique experience and fun with a friend. LOST MAINE MOVIES WERE SAVED AND RESTORED FROM OBLIVION and are being featured at the Augusta Colonial Theater on Sat 8/29

Join in on the 4th annual Silent Movie Festival: Up in Maine, featuring three shot-in-Maine films.

Enjoy three Maine made silent films, the way they were meant to be screened: with live musical accompaniment. You can thank Ed Lorusso for scouring the archives and finding these gems, restoring them and sharing them to us!

So, what are the films?

Jean Rescues (1911): A Vitagraph film shot in Portland area. The story is about a Jean the Vitagraph Dog helps a woman decide between two men after she rescues one of them from drowning. Fun Fact: Jean the Vitagraph Dog was America’s first canine movie star.

Three and A girl (1920): Filmed in Augusta. A girl from away comes to a remote lumber camp to work and flirts with 3 partners. They decide to help make up her mind which guy she really wants

Gods Country and The Law (1920): Filmed in Sebago Lake area and Saco River. Happy Canadians are living in peace in the wilderness until a crazed criminal who wears a rattlesnake amulet to ward off evil tries to attack women.
