TOP WEEKEND PICKS
It appears that this is the weekend of local art festivals! Choose one or choose them all. There’s one in Winthrop, Gardiner and Brunswick.

BY THE BOARD LUMBER, READFIELD
These guys sell hemlock lumber, Robbins Lumber Pine, Pressure Treated, KD spruce, 1/2" & 3/4" plywood, Advantek, 5/4" pt decking, wood chips, black & dk brown mulch, coarse hemlock mulch; loam, 3/4” stone, & metal roofing & more!
I have personally used them for years since living in Readfield myself. They offer great products at comparable prices to the box stores. If you are in need of wood, metal roofing, landscaping materials or more, they are definitely worth checking out! They deliver too! You can check them out here. Fall is a great project season!

HIKE OF THE WEEK
Maine Huts & Trails
These trails are FULL of adventures, right in the Western Mountains in Kingfield. With over 50 miles (free) to enjoy, there is surely something for everyone. You can choose from a variety of trails that lead you to huts where you can book a night to sleep, or like me, do a day hike and then grab a bite to eat at one of their huts that offer lunch and beer. There are also trails that lead you to beaches and kayaking options - one that is currently on my must do list. This is a great place to explore and can easily spend an entire day. Check them out here.

Aug. 16 Crescent Moon & Venus: Look toward the western sky after sunset. A young crescent moon will appear near brilliant Venus. This should be an easy, pretty one for families—no telescope needed. NASA's calendar places the Moon–Venus conjunction on Aug. 16.
Aug. 20–21 Moon near Antares: The Moon passes close to Antares, the distinctly reddish "heart" of Scorpius. Look generally south/southwest during the evening.
Partial Lunar Eclipse + Full Moon: THIS is the other one I'd definitely put in the newsletter.A partial lunar eclipse occurs overnight as we head into the Aug. 28 full moon. Unlike a solar eclipse, no special glasses are needed to watch a lunar eclipse. NASA lists the eclipse at about 04:14 UTC Aug. 28, which corresponds to just after midnight EDT here in Maine on the night of Aug. 27–28.
Full Sturgeon Moon: Even if someone misses the eclipse, the August full moon follows immediately. It should make a gorgeous late-summer moonrise if the Maine weather cooperates.
Moon meets Saturn: The month finishes with another very easy naked-eye sight: the Moon and Saturn appearing close together. They'll rise in the east and travel across the sky overnight.
